Part 1 I've been asked to speak at our church graduation ceremony this year. I must admit, I am very humbled at the idea of delivering an encouraging address to recent high school and college graduates. It was only one year ago that I became a college graduate, after many attempts and setbacks. I pray that my words will fall on fertile soil and I pray that God will be glorified thru me. The message will be posted in 3 parts, so it will not becoming overwhelming. Please let me know your thoughts and as always, Much Love, Mrs. Misenheimer The Road to Success Seek God’s will first in all that you do. Whatever you do in life and wherever you go, always seek God’s purpose for you. All he needs is your committed heart, in order to strengthen you. He’s looking for people to strengthen; he’s looking for people who are committed to him. Trust and know that HIS beauty is upon you and that he will establish the work of your hands. With that said, I would like to share three “Nuggets of Wisdom,” with you today”
Set your mind on success. Your first priority in succeeding must be to please God. At school or at work you have to make a choice to be a representative for the Lord. Philippians 2:2 says, “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. God has purpose for you, and His purpose is to see you succeed. He wants people who are not ashamed to testify of His greatness whether in Corporate America or on a college campus. You have to want that same outcome for yourself. Align your thoughts with God’s thoughts and allow His purpose for you to spring forth. For our college bound graduates: You are about to take on a whole new experience in life. You will leave behind all that is familiar to you. Your family and close friends will not be available on a daily basis and your entire daily routine will be changed. But God has promised in Deuteronomy 19:8, to enlarge your territory as long as you: Love the Lord your God and Walk in His Ways. Do those things at school that will set you up for success: get to know your college campus, take a tour of the library, and find out about study groups and tutors before you need them. Pay attention in class, find out which people excel in certain subjects and get to know those people. It is important to surround yourself with knowledge. For our college graduates: Take a moment to celebrate your accomplishments. Find comfort in knowing that you stood firm, you kept the faith and you completed your task. Understand that you are helping to decrease the statistic of minorities that do not possess a degree in America. In 2010, a study published in the New York Times, revealed that only 30% of African-Americans ages 25-34 held an associate’s degree or higher. After you’ve taken a moment to celebrate, refocus on your success. Update your resume, build important networking relationships and find a mentor in your chosen career field. At work, you need to take on those projects that no one else wants to do and complete them with excellence. You should complete those assignments so well, that next time, management is asking for your assistance personally.
