Reflection

What’s On My Mind? Acts 15:14-18:  Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself. The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild. And I will restore it, that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things that have been known for ages. The scriptures detail God’s concern for mankind by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself. In other words a people who were once considered inferior because they were “other than” a Jew, God made them his chosen. It is amazing how God can speak life; into utter confusion, total chaos and devastated ruins! Just as the Jew did not consider the Gentile worthy, we may consider some of our family members torn up! We may not agree with everything our loved ones do and they may even cause us a great deal of heartache. In our mind we may think that our way is better than theirs. Truth be told, God created us all the same and set all of us on the same playing field. We are all one temptation away from falling and one suggestion away from backsliding! All of us are that remnant that the scriptures speak about! Before we find fascination in judging the ways of others, we first should look at our own reflection through God’s word. God’s word is the only mirror that can show us who we really are. Our actions, words and thoughts need to be aligned with that of the Holy Spirit. If not, we are just clanging symbols and resounding gongs. Many of our friends and family members are gifted and the gift should be respected. Our gifts need to be used to strengthen, encourage and comfort those in need. God does not need man’s opinion of HIS creation, he only needs you to fall in line and do your part to build HIS Kingdom. Commit your way to the Lord and take comfort in knowing that your work is not in vain. At the appointed time, God will personally deliver to you, the desires of your heart! Much Love, Mrs. Misenheimer.
