Origins of Peace LLC is a conflict resolution boutique that empowers individuals to reclaim their power, freedom and influence over troubling thoughts and emotions so they can show up in life and at work feeling peaceful, confident, and empowered.

It's been almost a week since America found out who our next President will be. While many of us were disappointed in the election results, there are others who are excited for the forthcoming administration. I want to be clear in this moment that this blog post will focus on providing a safe space and resources for those who are less than thrilled with the results. At this present time, WE find ourselves in conflict and feeling the afterburn from this blatant disregard for equality and peace.

Honestly, I'm just resurfacing after the news. Early in the day on Tuesday, November 5th, I began feeling triggered. The emotional heaviness of Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, and the four years that followed made an overwhelming resurgence in my mind, body and spirit. From that I decided to shut down my laptop, logoff social media and go to bed. After I heard the news on Wednesday, I decided to cater to my personal needs for a bit. Once I untangled my feelings, I was left with the following reflections.

"I Don't Have to Go Around Trying to Save Everyone Anymore; That's Not My Job."

~Jada Pinkett Smith

It's perfectly fine to feel your feelings,

when they aren't the normal positive vibes that others expect from you.

  • Incorporate self-care activities daily, that allow you to check in with yourself regularly and identify when you're feeling triggered.

Use self-reflection to gain clarity about what you're feeling.

  • If you feel disappointment, label it as disappointment and try to pinpoint what caused those feelings to arise.

Rest if you need to.

  • Listen to your feelings and give your body what it needs. If you need to rest and unplug, be gracious enough to yourself to allow it to happen.

Plan for what's next.

  • Once you've had time to process your feelings, it's time to get to work and make a plan for forward motion.

While there's no need to panic, there is need for preparation.

Things will certainly change in 2025. From banned books to reduced government assistance, many of the liberties and resources that have been available to support many, will go away.

What's the plan?

How will we properly educate our youth? How will we protect reproductive rights? How will we ensure ALL are protected and served by the police?

It's time to begin planning for these things now. As I stated earlier, this isn't time to panic, but this is the time to prepare.

Decide What You Want for You & Your Family

  1. What's your goal?

  2. How will you make it happen?

  3. When will you start?

"The first step to achieving your goals, is to take a moment to respect your goal.

Know what it means to you to achieve it."

    ~Dwayne Johnson

Toolkit

To achieve your goals, you need a toolkit. For this situation, your toolkit will need to contain a lot of relevant information. For me,

it's important to know who I'm spending my money with.

Here's a list of major retailers and corporations that contributed to the Trump Campaign.

If this information is important to you, make a list or save the link to this blog for easy access.
